Harris Beach is a little local spot right in the middle of Brookings, Oregon. This is one of my favorite locations to shoot families because of the great variety the landscape offers. Often times, I do not even have my clients move but can capture several different looks from the same scene.
It is all about perspective.
From the same location, I can capture images with just the ocean behind them as a classic beach backdrop. We take 14 steps to the right, and suddenly there is a large sea cliff as our backdrop and the entire mood can change in an instant. Add in the river that will often be flowing through the beach, or the abundance of drift wood, and there is more backgrounds and scene set ups just waiting for your next family shoot! I even walk around my clients and shoot from all the different angles, and then it is like we stepped into a different location once again, especially at sunset or on a stormy day which adds another amazing element to an already great shoot.
Most of all, I just really love to capture the natural interactions and the connections that already exist in your family. It is not about posing for the camera and saying cheese! A better expectation, is to come prepared to love on your family, and just let me direct the locations and positions so that it turns into a timeless masterpiece that you will enjoy for years to come.
